Once upon a time, in the heart of Punjab’s enchanting city, Amritsar, was born our beloved Anjali Luthra, a woman who, with each stroke of her pen, found solace and inspiration. Her story is not just about the art of calligraphy; it’s a tale of rediscovery, resilience, and the timeless pursuit of passion.
Anjali, now 73, became an integral part of The Calligraphy Foundation from its inception, serving as a steadfast pillar of support. Her journey began at the ripe age of 70, a testament to the fact that it’s never too late to embark on a new adventure. A former teacher and an aficionado of arts and crafts, Anjali sought the beauty of good handwriting to complement her creative pursuits.
Fate intervened when she stumbled upon the captivating world of calligraphy. Eager to learn, the only challenge she faced was her inability to travel due to age. Enter her first teacher, Tanavi Saraiya, who graciously brought the art to her doorstep, unraveling the secrets of Gothic, Italic, Fraktur, Brushpen, Uncial, and Neuland scripts.
But her journey didn’t stop there. Anjali, curious about the vibrant inks that adorned calligraphic creations, found her way to Raghunita Gupta, the Managing Director of TCF for Calligraphy Supplies. This connection not only provided her with the necessary tools but also opened doors to a community of like-minded enthusiasts.
Anjali’s involvement in the Practice and Progress (PNP) group became a defining chapter. Her infectious motivation spurred beginners, fostering a sense of belonging. Even during challenging times, her absence reverberated through the group, a testament to the impact she had on everyone.
